Standings 2022
Through Week 14
The ‘Ship is About to Set Sail
Here we go, ‘Gangers. The regular season ends, the Playoffs begin.
The standings changed little from Week 13 to Week 14, save for Alabama Men grabbing an undisputed third place in the Apollo by knocking Buckguys out of the Playoffs. Flight and Katy’s Brother lost as well, but it didn’t affect Jim’s hold on 1st Place and the #1 Seed nor Chris’s Wild Card berth. (The loss did drop Chris into the 8th Seed, where he meets Jim in round one.)
Juice won and, with Jim, collects a Division 1st Place bonus. Campton and S*Heads each won, and each get 2nd Place bonuses; and Hounds (win) and Thinkers (win) join Bama Men and Katy’s Brother in the Wild Card bonus circle.
Through Week 13
Apollo is set, the Mayor is not, and 6 Teams are In
That about covers it, I believe. So are we done here? No, we are not. The devil — and I think we all know who we’re talking about here — is in the details.
Heavy Flight clinched 1st Place in the Apollo last week, and this week the S*Heads’ win over The U clinched 2nd Place. Both Jim and Kurt are in the playoffs. Even with a loss to Fartz in Week 14, Our Founder would be no worse than 7-7. And even though he may at that point be tied at 7-7 with Bill and either Tom or Doug, his 4-2 Division record breaks those potential ties.
Meanwhile, in the Mayor, the top four teams in the division matched up this week: 7-5 Juice met 8-4 Campton, and 7-5 Hounds met 8-4 Thinker. In both games, the “underdog” won. The “underdog” tag is used under advisement here: Juice came in having won five of his past six games — and now is six of his last seven — and Hounds are the top points producers in the league, averaging about 112 each week while hitting the century mark in nine of 13 games (as has Flight, with both second only to Thinkers’ ten 100+ games).
So now it’s down to tiebreakers, and wouldn’t U know it: Juice breaks the tie by virtue of his division mastery, going 5-1 against fellow Mayor Jen-ites. Campton grabs second with the second-best division record (4-2) and Hounds breaks the 3-3 tie for third with Thinkers by way of the second tiebreaker, the head-to-head result. Thing is, we might see the same sorting-out after Week 14 concludes this Monday. All four teams could be 9-5, and the same tiebreakers would be in play.
No matter how they finish, however, all four teams are in the playoffs. One will take First, one will take Second, and two will get in as Wild Cards.
But we get ahead of ourselves. Below are the Division standings; for Wild Card standings and more Playoff possibilities, please head to the Playoffs page.
Through Week 12
We have an Apollo Division Champion, Gangers! Heavy Flight used a combined 50 from the Sun God and Lamar to beat Thinkers and clinch the Apollo crown this weekend. (Jim’s win plus S*Heads’ win over Bama Men sealed the deal.) Heavy also grabs the lead for Best Record Bonus at 9-3, ahead of 8-4 Thinkers and Campton.
Andy’s win over Katy’s Brother moves 8-4 Campton into the Mayor Division lead, bumping Thinkers into second and Chris out of the projected playoff picture. And it also sets up a battle for first next week with Juice, who’s now won five of his last six games. Dean at 7-5 is just a game out of the Mayor Jeni Division top spot, and a win would give Juice the best division record at 5-1, a very handy tiebreaker to have in one’s pocket.
Right on Juice’s heels is Haydn, who got even more from Josh Jacobs (51) than Pops did last week from Tony Pollard (38). Hounds at 7-5 are also a game back of the Mayor Jeni lead, and face 8-4 Thinkers next week. There could be four 8-5 teams in the Mayor Division after next week’s games, tied for first place.
Back in the Apollo Division, Bama Men, Buckguys, Fartz and S*Heads are now all 6-6 and tied for second place. S*Heads and Fartz are both 3-2 in the division, Buck is 2-3 and Bama Men are 2-4. Kurt breaks that tie for second (and grabs that projected playoff spot) by virtue of his win over Bill in Week 10.
Oddly enough, Fartz not only loses out on second but also finds himself on the outside of the playoffs, too. Men and Buck grab Wild Card spots based on their points scored, measurably more than the Fighting Fartz have scored this year so far.
Through Week 11
Dollz snapped Flight’s three-game winning streak this past weekend, but Jim still commands the Apollo Division. ESPN says he’s a 100% lock to make the playoffs now, probably because he needs just one win in the final three matchups to clinch at least a tie for first. Alabama Men sit second, and two wins in his final three earns second place; a sweep earns him at worst a tie, and perhaps a solo claim, for first.
Over in the Mayor Jeni, chaos reigns. The only constant since last we checked in (below) is Juice in third place (and playoff qualified). Thinkers are back in first; Campton has jumped from fourth to second; Hounds have fallen from first to fifth, and Katy’s Brother has leapt from sixth to fourth. All five teams currently are in the playoff picture.
Through Week 9
Well, it was a good run for Thinkers. Eight weeks atop the Mayor Jeni Division: six in first place alone, and two in a tie. But now Week 9 wraps up and — tiebroken, heartbroken — Thinkers slip into second. Technically it’s still a tie for first, but Thinkers can read the writing on the wall: Hounds have a better division record AND way more points scored, and deserve first place.
No such drama in the Apollo Division: Flight maintains its two-game lead atop the standings, and the Buckguys-Men tie for second is broken by Doug’s better division record.
Through Week 8
It was a good week for Campton:
- Three of his guys went for 30+ (Henry, Hopkins and Foreman)
- His 148 was the week’s league high score
- With Dak’s 26, he moved up to second place in the QB rankings
- The win was his second in the Division against zero losses
- The win, and his unblemished division record, puts him in second in the division
It was also a good week for Hurt Locker, as Greg’s win and S*Heads‘ loss combined to shake up the projected playoffs picture. Hurt grabs Kurt’s #8 Seed and S*Heads are now on the outside, looking in. Greg also is one of five Mayor Jeni teams in the current projections, against three from Apollo. See the playoff projections and Wild Card standings here.
KEY: Projected playoff teams in boldface
Through Week 7
No, that’s not a typo: The 6th-place team in the Apollo Division is a projected playoff qualifier. Wild Card standings use points scored as the first tie breaker (and ignore division record), and so the 3-4 S*Heads actually sit in the 6th seed thanks to the 712 points scored. (Rumor has it that Justin Jefferson and Jaylen Waddle have combined for 600 of those 712 points.) Anyway, check out the playoff projections here.
